Things started out a little choppy for me but then Mr.Price got into a groove and smoothed the story out. Country boy comes to the big city and ends up learning some life lessons and finding love. I liked Jake,Evan and the rest of characters...a series would be wonderful. A good effort for a first book...hope to see more.Product details

Jake is a young naive guy, he wants to be an actor, he wants shine. What he does get after meeting Marcus is not the life he wants. Working all the hours god sends to please Marcus. All he seems to end up doing is to make himself unhappy. When he tries to put things right his world explodes.
Marcus sees something he likes and he wants it. He doesn’t seem to care who he hurts in the process…. Not my favourite character in the book. He lies and cheats for the sake of his image.
Evan is a sweet waiter, he is saving to open his own restaurant. When he meets Jake the lust does fly. I do like Evan. He is what I would call a dependable guy, one you can rely on if you ever needed too.
When things go wrong in a big way you do find out who your friends are…. A great story of fame, fortune, fashion, greed and infidelity.
A great rags to riches story with a lot of intrigue along the way.
This author is very new to me, I enjoyed his writing style, the story flowed seamlessly. Yes there were a couple of points that I disliked but that is down to personal preference. I don’t care for cheating or drugs, these two points didn’t make me enjoy the book less.
Overall, an interesting read, very different characters, a good storyline and plot.

Christian has done an excellent job with his very first novel. It had all the components of a well written story, strong story line, defined and very distinct characters that anyone could identify with whether you liked them or not, the element of emotion, drama, intrigue, and a true to life feel to it. Even grammatical errors were minimal if not non-existent. I like the writer's style of writing as he intertwines the lives of the characters with the life of the main character. You are not left hanging at any point; the story flows. This story is about a young, naïve, gay man, Jake, who came from the country to look for a career in acting in NYC, the city where dreams are sought. On the first day he got to the city, just looking for a job and a place to sleep was a major feat, until he met Frank, the owner of the restaurant, Emerald City. There he found a friendly atmosphere of people who he quickly found some solace and being welcome is what he needed. Frank gave him a job as a waiter, even though he had no experience. His fellow waiter, Evan, was a sweet, thoughtful gay man who trained Jake, and the two seemed to bond and an attraction devveloped. That very night Evan let him stay on his couch because he had no where to stay. Their attraction for one another got stronger as time went on and Jake, being a virgin, never being with another man, wanted this and Evan seemed to be the right one. Loving, trustworthy, faithful, and open to one another until a Famous, Wealthy, and Deceitful Fashion mogul, Marcus Soloman, came to the restaurant with his boyfriend/top male model, and Jake caught his attention. Marcus always got what he wanted and told Jake he would make a great model for his company. Shane, his boyfriend/model knew the look and the lives of everyone changed from that point on. Jake went to Marcus' office and Jake's life went from poor and uncertain to one of fame and fortune. Marcus wanted Jake and he got him....The draw of being a successful model for Marcus and the world of fame, drugs, deceit, and sex with Marcus took over. Jake got caught up into a world that he wasn't sure after a while that he really wanted. He lost Evan and himself in the process. This story is very riveting, emotional one, and seeing Jake struggle with himself and the lies that Marcus told within his own world keeping Jake in a whirlwind. Marcus' former boyfriend/model was going to get his revenge since everything was ripped out from under him when Jake came in. Hate, desperation, and revenge became a motive as Shane and Marcus' wife team up to take it all away. This story is one of what the world of fame, wealth, and a very naïve man could get caught up in. Thinking his dreams were all coming true with Marcus at the helm. Little did he know!! With the love of a man, Evan, who never gave up on Jake. The story is fast moving, action packed, and yet a story of love. A story of a man who finds what he really wants in life....finds himself once again. I loved it. Would like to see a follow up on this story. It's got the making of a true happily ever after even though life can throw a lot of things at you. Christian, you have done all the right things in this story...the passion, the heart, and the real life events. I applaud your first best effort. A great read!

Its always a gamble reading a book from a new author – will I like it? Will I like the writing style, storyline etc?
Well, sometimes its good to take a chance, and here I found a read I really enjoyed. Christian has kept the plot fairly simple, a love story, a bit of dilemma over situations, and some suspense to finish. That’s far better than books which throw in so much it becomes one long muddle. I’d rather read one well written but simple story, than one that’s got multiple plot lines that just don’t go anywhere.
Anyway, Jake has come to NY from the countryside to follow his dream of being an actor. Like most of us though the real world means finding a job and a place to live first, and that’s how he meets Evan. Evan’s a great guy and a real love match for Jake, who’s so trusting and innocent. They're’ swimming along happily, though Jake doesn’t seem to have time to push the acting ambition yet, when along comes Marcus. What a horrible man, wealthy and convinced everything is his for the taking. He’s got enough money and influence to do whatever he wants, and to the consternation of his current lover he wants Jake. What follows is a grooming of Jake, making him a top model for his clothing chain, taking him out to smart places, buying him expensive presents, and they finally get to the point where he just can’t say no to Marcus one might after a busy day, when Marcus has plied him with alcohol.....Poor Jake, he loves Evan but now feels he’s simply not good enough for him. Evan is shocked, and they part ways but Jake has him in his heart all the while. Marcus really is a devious manipulator, and yet if he’s been brought up in the circle where he has to hide his gay side, and he’s always had whatever he wants otherwise, then maybe its not totally his fault, more that he’s lacked anyone to teach him about morals. Its something often seen in those who feel the world is theirs for the taking. Still, that’s no help to Jake who’s increasingly dependent on Marcus and though living his dream as a star is struggling to cope. Of course when everything looks good that’s just when it tips and Jake gets put into life-threatening danger.
Its a fun read, some great characters. I just loved Evan, he’s such a genuinely good guy, and Jake of course I felt was perfect for him. Jake's a real innocent and feels he owes Marcus. His friend in the next apartment, Penny, was a great person too – witty and a huge support to him when he needed it. She made the story very real. I liked that there were some females in the story – too often in M/M its as if there’s only one sex and females don’t exist. The sex scenes were well done, not too dominating, but fitted the plot perfectly and felt natural. I liked too that the characters felt real, and weren’t the camp, OTT, queen types that just annoy me. I can live with the odd one, but some books seem to portray all gay men as that type and of course its not true. I really enjoyed this read, its a simple well written novel where the story unfolds carefully, building up for the final drama, and then everything adds up without any loose ends. Its not an un-putdownable read, but a good start to Christian's writing career.
